Dr. Zulkarnain Hassan is an associate professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering & Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis. He holds both a PhD and a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

His research focuses on hydrology and water resource management, with particular attention to assessing the effects of climate change on water systems, especially flooding and drought. He develops advanced matrix-based models powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve flood forecasting capabilities. His contributions also extend to refining risk assessment methodologies, enabling more accurate and dependable decision-making in water resource planning and management.
